Job Description

We’re looking for a hands-on, motivated Junior Security Systems Technician to join our team. This entry-level role supports the installation, servicing, and maintenance of security systems at client sites across the GTA.


As a Junior Security Systems Technician, you’ll assist with the setup and configuration of CCTV, access control, intercom, intrusion detection, and high-security master key systems. You’ll work alongside experienced technicians and project managers to ensure quality installations and prompt service, directly impacting customer safety and satisfaction.

You’ll report to the Project Manager and collaborate with a supportive team that values mentorship and continuous learning. This role offers a great opportunity to build a career in the security industry.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the installation, wiring, and configuration of security systems including CCTV, access control, intercom, intrusion detection, and master key systems.

  • Support senior technicians in testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning systems to ensure full functionality.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of site activities, configurations, and service logs.

  • Prepare and organize tools, materials, and equipment required for installations and service calls.

  • Conduct routine maintenance and service visits under supervision, ensuring minimal downtime for clients.

  • Learn and follow project plans, wiring diagrams, and installation standards to ensure consistent quality.

  • Communicate installation updates and issues to the project manager or site lead in a timely manner.

  • Collaborate with internal project teams and external vendors/subcontractors as needed.

  • Uphold site safety protocols and ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

  • Represent the company professionally while on-site, ensuring a positive customer experience.

  • Continuously build technical skills and product knowledge through on-the-job training and mentorship.

Required Experience/Skills
  • A strong interest in technology, electronics, or hands-on technical work.

  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort using basic hand and power tools.

  • Eagerness to learn about security systems such as CCTV, access control, and alarms.

  • Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and pride in completing quality work.

  • Willingness to work on-site at customer locations across the GTA.

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.

  • Valid G-class driver’s license and clean driving record.

  • Physical ability to lift equipment, climb ladders, and work in various site conditions.

  • Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

  • Basic computer skills and comfort using digital tools (including proficiency in Excel and Word).

Nice-to-Haves
  • Hands-on experience installing or servicing CCTV, access control, or alarm systems.

  • Familiarity with security system brands (e.g., Avigilon, Software House, American Dynamics, HID, DSC, Paradox, Kantech, etc.).

  • Completion of a college diploma, trade certification, or manufacturer training in electronics, electrical, security systems, or a related field.

  • Basic knowledge of network cabling, IP configuration, or system integration.

  • Experience working on construction sites or in client-facing service roles.

  • Safety-related certifications such as Working at Heights, WHMIS, or Ontario Electrical Safety Code knowledge.

  • Comfort using mobile apps or software tools for documentation and reporting.

  • Bilingualism or multilingualism (especially English/French) is an asset for certain client sites.

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Post-secondary education, certifications or courses in electronics, electrical techniques, security technology, low-voltage electrical systems, or related areas are considered an asset.
