Job Description
We’re looking for an experienced and dependable Senior Security Systems Technician to join our team. This role is ideal for a technician with strong field experience, leadership abilities, and a solutions-oriented mindset who is ready to take ownership of complex projects and mentor junior staff.
As a Senior Security Systems Technician, you’ll oversee and/or independently execute the installation, commissioning, servicing, and troubleshooting of security systems, including CCTV, access control, intercom, intrusion detection, and master key systems at client sites across the GTA. You’ll serve as the primary on-site lead, ensuring jobs are completed on time, to spec, and with top-tier workmanship.
In addition to technical execution, this role involves mentoring junior team members, coordinating field logistics, and working directly with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to solve problems and deliver excellent service.
This role reports to the Project Manager and collaborates closely with the project management team, subcontractors, and client representatives.

Duties and Responsibilities
Lead full-cycle installation, servicing, and commissioning of security systems, including CCTV, access control, intercom, intrusion detection, and master key systems.
Interpret, mark up, and revise technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and scope-of-work documents as needed.
Plan and manage day-to-day field operations, including team delegation, site safety, and tool/material prep.
Troubleshoot complex system issues and provide escalated technical support to field teams.
Serve as the primary on-site contact for clients, general contractors, and related trades.
Ensure quality control, technical accuracy, and compliance with project specifications and standards.
Maintain organized and thorough documentation of system configurations, testing procedures, and job status.
Provide on-the-job guidance, technical support, and mentorship to junior and intermediate technicians.
Participate in and occasionally lead post-installation training and knowledge transfer sessions with clients.
Act as a subject matter expert for specific products or systems and assist with internal training and documentation.
Proactively identify process improvements, safety issues, or training needs and communicate them to leadership.
Stay current on emerging technologies, industry standards, and product updates through vendor training and certifications.
Required Experience/Skills
4+ years of hands-on experience installing, configuring, servicing, and maintaining security systems in commercial/institutional environments.
Expert-level understanding of low-voltage systems, cabling standards, and security electronics.
Experience working with brands such as Avigilon, Software House, American Dynamics, HID, DSC, Paradox, Kantech, or similar.
Ability to read, interpret, and modify technical drawings, network diagrams, and construction documents.
Strong team leadership skills, including task delegation, on-site decision-making, and mentoring.
Strong problem-solving skills and technical aptitude.
Excellent English verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact confidently with clients.
Valid G-class driver’s license and clean driving record.
Physical ability to lift equipment, climb ladders, and work in various site conditions.
Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Proficient with system configuration tools, network setups, mobile apps, and documentation software.
Organized, dependable, and accountable for delivering quality work with minimal supervision.
Nice-to-Haves
Completion of a college diploma, trade certification, or manufacturer training in electronics, electrical, security systems, or a related field.

Experience with network infrastructure (IP addressing, PoE, VLANs, etc.) and IT-based security deployments.

Previous experience in site supervision or project leadership roles.
WHMIS, Working at Heights, First Aid, or other safety-related certifications.
Familiarity with and working knowledge of IP networks and system integration.
Previous mentorship or training experience is considered an asset.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Post-secondary education, certifications or courses in electronics, electrical techniques, security technology, low-voltage electrical systems strongly preferred.
